Bookworm

I was tagged a while back - I was to "open the nearest book to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence on that page, and also the next two to five sentences. The CLOSEST BOOK, not your favorite or most intellectual."  Here you go!

The closest book to me right now is "Nancy Reagan - A First Lady's Style" which I picked up when visiting the Reagan library this summer.
Although the dress's silhouette was simple, its hand-embroidered beading in a fern-like pattern was a work of art, having taken more than four weeks to craft.  "I loved it, and wore it proudy," she [Nancy Reagan] said.
This is a photo of the dress mentioned above, courtesy of the National Museum of American History.

We went through an exhibit of the first lady's fashion during the her years in the White House.  Really interesting exhibit... I sure wish I had my own designers... and a place to wear all of those lovely clothes.

  1. This is wonderful! I *so* remember this dress, it typifies Nancy Reagan, unusual for me as it isn't that 'Reagan Red' everyone liked on her so much!
