Tuesday Garden Party - In the Heat

I know I shouldn't complain.

But I really can't help it.  It is hot here.  102 yesterday.  Which is pretty hot for us.

All that heat makes my garden wilted and lazy, but I did find a few stars...

These 4 o'clocks were up early this morning.

One of our new aquatic plants for our pond, enjoying the fountain.

Another of the new aquatic plants, beginning to flower.

One of the roses, which apparently are thriving in the heat.  My father-in-law says they are like weeds, so maybe that helps them.

As for news on the squirrel front.  Not sure if we've gotten him to leave yet.  I haven't seen him but that doesn't mean he has left.

However, I did move our lettuce, which he had devastated.  Mobility - one of the benefits of our hydroponic lettuce solution!

Anyway, here was last week...

... and just one week later!

I'm hoping that it will cool down outside and my garden will spring back to productivity.  You will have to check back next week to see - in the meantime, check out An Oregon Cottage for her weekly Garden Party.

  1. Hi Susan: Glad to see your lettuce is making a good recovery. Perhaps you've thwarted that little rascal squirrel. And that rose is amazing--gorgeous, as well as the four o'clocks! It is going up to 97 degrees here for the next few days--super hot for this area. Hopefully it will help the eggplant and peppers to ripen! Have a great week, and try to stay cool!

  2. Those rascally squirrels. We have them performing all kinds of gymnastics to get to our bird feeders. Hope your lettuce keeps ahead of your squirrel.
