Tuesday Garden Party - Heat Wave

This week brought a couple of days of CRAZY hot weather! And just after I planted my little pea and lettuce seedlings.

The peas fared pretty well in the 110 degree heat and blazing sun...

... for the most part anyway. A few crispy leaves, but not many.

The lettuce? Not so much. Hopefully they will come back after this heat wave goes away.

The tomato on the other hand? Loves it! Almost ready to pick!

I planted carrots, broccoli and onions - come on back next week to see if they've sprouted. In the meantime, check out An Oregon Cottage for her weekly Garden Party.

  1. Love the looks of your fall garden. I'm sure with some more heat they will grow quickly in that San Diego Sun! :)

  2. I just can not motivate myself to get a fall garden started this year. Yours looks like it has fine start! It helps to have the Mr's watering skills. I don't envy you the heat.

  4. Yay peas, for surviving the heat! I hope your lettuce is just taking a little break before coming back later in cooler temperatures.

  5. We got up to 82 last week here in Oregon- so the tomatoes are finally all ripening, too. My lettuce all wilted, though- must've got some sort of aphid. Looking forward to seeing how your seeds fared!
