Tuesday Garden Party - First Week of Fall?

After last week's tobacco worm discovery (and thanks to advice from Peggi, I kept an eye on the plants and found another one on my peppers - ugh!), I was hoping to be done with big bugs.

Apparently not.  We've got these guys on our corn.

Well, we did have, until I politely escorted them from the yard.  Maybe not that politely.

It's hard to believe that summer is over.  Especially since it was 97F yesterday, with expected highs in the mid- 90s all week.  And we are still growing tons of these wonderful habaneros...

... with the ghost peppers starting to flower...

... and the scorpions too!

Our sweet peppers (once we clear the "quarantine" period) will be coming in like gangbusters.  I like these stripey ones!

And can it be fall if we have lemons ripening on the tree?

Or corn still just starting?

We've still got a garden full or beautiful roses...

... and a surprise marigold.

Well, I guess if it is fall, I like it!

Here's hoping we are done with bugs.  At least big creepy bugs.  You will have to check back next week to see - in the meantime, check out An Oregon Cottage for her weekly Garden Party.

    1. They look cool, don't they? I suspect they will ripen to all one color, but for now they are fun.

  2. Love your beautiful peppers. Hope that you manage to keep your bugs at bay. Here we are getting whitefly....yuk. And lots of spiders...yay (as long as they stay outside)

    1. I hope we do too. Ugh - whiteflies are such a pain! We constantly battle them as well. And I am with you on the spiders staying outside!

    1. Thanks! We're really lucky that we mostly just let them grow and they are beautiful. Now if that would only work with tomatoes...

  4. We have stink beetles lately. Ew.
    Your roses are lovely.

  5. What gorgeous peppers, Susan--you did far and away much better with them than I did this year. I bought some pepper plants at a plant sale, because I could not get my seed to germinate. So I plant the peppers and they grow into big robust plants that didn't produce hardly any flowers, and thus almost no peppers. I'm thinking I gave them more nitrogen than they wanted in their fertilizer, but I'm growing eggplant in the same bed with them, and the eggplant are loaded with fruit. This puzzles me :) Your roses are lovely! Take care--I am very, very slowly transitioning into fall, although as you say, it will be very warm here for the next few days.
