Tuesday Garden Party - Midsummer Update

While we are not sweltering here in So Cal the same way that lots of other folks are, things are certainly heating up in the garden.

Our first batch of corn is corning?  Tassling?  Well, growing anyway.

And the others (we planted in waves so we could harvest longer) are coming along really well too.

We've got hot peppers of all types growing like crazy!  And the ultra-hots are getting close to ready to transplant!

For as bad as our sweet pepper plants look, they are still semi-thriving.  Quite frankly, this is the best we've ever really gotten them to grow.

See?  Little sweet peppers!

And if tomato flowers counted for something, we'd be winners.  Tomatoes have tons and tons of flowers.

And quite a number of these too!

Our surprise peas are even flowering!  Yea!

This is about the time of year that everything really gets rolling in the garden, and I can't wait!

Check back next week to see what else we're up to in the garden - in the meantime, check out An Oregon Cottage for her weekly Garden Party.

  1. Hi Susan: I love your productive garden--so beautiful! And those sweet and hot peppers--yum. We've had buckets of rain here lately, but I'm growing a bunch of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant under plastic, and they are thriving. We're eating lettuce, salad greens and snow peas, as well as strawberries and the first of the raspberries from the garden now, with lots more stuff to come. Take care--have a fun 4th!

  2. That should be a lovely lot of tomatoes in your future.

  3. I love thinking about how each one of those tassels represents a kernel of corn... nice variety you have coming in!
